If you're looking for instructions on how to build and run xferstats, read the
INSTALL file. But first, the next to last section of this file is quite
important, so at the very least, read that one.

Commercialize xferstats?
------------------------

As I've been developing this software, a few people (yes, more than one :)
have pulled me aside and said that I should hold back--that I shouldn't give
away _all_ of my clever ideas for free. That I should release a basic
version that does what most people want and then sell my time creating
additional functionality.

xferstats Will Stay Free
------------------------

Now don't get me wrong, if anyone wants to pay me, I'll be more than happy to
add certain features to the code, and I'll even agree to support the code,
perhaps back it up with some sort of guarantee of usefulness. But I'm not
going to stop "innovating". I chuckle as I write this, because in my mind,
xferstats is hardly innovation. It fills a niche, sure, but it's hardly
ground-breaking or even terribly original. It's a fun project to work on, and
I hope it's useful for people, and that's about it. I'm going to keep adding
what I think are useful features, requested items, and even just cool hacks,
and I don't expect anyone to pay for it.

Buy Me Books!
-------------

That being said, however, I'd really love it if someone wanted to send me some
books :). I love books, I'm fascinated by many things, although I often find
that I simply can't afford both tuition and hack books. If anyone cares to
Amazon me a book or two, I'd be happy to provide an address and I would be
eternally grateful. Here is my current wish list, for the curious:

Code Complete by Steve McConnell, Microsoft Press (gasp!)

Finally
-------

Yeah, basically this is just an advertisement for you people to buy me books,
I won't deny it. Buy me books. And thanks for your feedback.
